The Burning of Cassville

Cassville Confederate Cemetery
Sponsored by the Cassville Historical Society. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. take a guided tour of the historic Cassville Confederate Cemetery as costumed guides portray the Widows of Cassville and commemorate the 144th anniversary of the burning of Cassville on November 5, 1864. The Fifth Ohio Cavalry burned the town of Cassville. Only three houses and the Churches escaped their flames. The women and children of Cassville fled to the cemetery and hid among the tombstones to escape the burning town. Guides will recount the history of old Cassville during this walk-through tour experience. Admission is free.

I-75 Exit 296, go west on Cass-White Rd approximately 2 miles to cemetery OR from US 41 north of Cartersville, turn right on Cassville Rd, then right on Cass-White Rd.
