A Tribute to the Kingston Woman's History Club: Our Women and Their Work 1861-2010
Website
January 24, 2010 -January 24, 2011

Kingston Woman's History Club
As the women of the Kingston Woman's History Club prepare to celebrate their 110th birthday as one of the oldest clubs in Georgia and the nation, they are also preparing this special exhibit, which will feature the body of work accomplished by the club during the last century and a half. The exhibit will open January 24, 2010 from 2-5 p.m. and will continue on display throughout 2010.
Known primarily for the longest running annual Confederate Memorial Day Service, the women of Kingston have made substantial contributions to the City of Kingston through their work. Beginning in 1861 as the Soldiers Aid Society the women of Kingston established the first Wayside Home in the nation, caring for the sick and wounded Confederate, as well as, Union soldiers and later erected the first monument memorializing those who fought in the Civil War; however, their work did not stop there. In 1900, the group officially became known as the Kingston Woman's History Club and as they say, "the rest is history."
The public is cordially invited to view the exhibit and other museum displays each Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
